After a series of challenges, Antoine L’Estage and Alan Ockwell of Subaru Rally Team Canada emerged victorious at the 25th edition of the Rallye Défi, in Montpellier, Quebec. The win marks L’Estage’s ninth win at Défi, and earns him maximum points in the championship standings, opening a slight margin over his rivals.

The Canadian Rally Championship relies on the efforts of dedicated volunteers to help run events. We spoke with Mathieu Arsenault, the Marketing, Sponsorship, and VIP co-ordinator for the upcoming Rallye Défi, to hear how he got started in rallying, and why he continues to be involved.

Antoine L’Estage and Alan Ockwell finished the first day of competition at Rallye Baie des Chaleurs with a lead, but not without facing challenges of their own. Thea team had built a good lead in the early part of the day, but a loud sound on an uphill hairpin proved to be a damaged driveline, forcing the team to limp to the end of the day.

The third round of the Canadian Rally Championship is where title fights will gain momentum. Who will come out of the event ahead?

Rallye Baie des Chaleurs is the eastern-most round of the Canadian Rally Championship. It’s the one with the jump. And with Camp Brulé. But Baie’s defining feature may be the thousands of fans that line the stages in the hills surrounding New Richmond, Quebec. Far removed from any major Canadian city, the rally fans of New Richmond ardently show their colours when the CRC comes to town.

Brandon Semenuk and John Hall won an attrition-riddled Rocky Mountain Rally, in Invermere, BC, round two of the Canadian Rally Championship. This is Semenuk’s first national rally victory, and Hall’s first with Semenuk.
