The Eastern Canadian Rally Championship (ECRC) kicked off its 11th season this weekend as the traditional Rallye Perce-Neige, held in Maniwaki in Quebec’s Haute-Gatineau region, celebrated its 60th edition. Run in bitterly cold conditions, the event was marked by two clear dominations: Subaru cars locked out the overall Top 6, while Peugeot dominated the two-wheel-drive class, with the French brand occupying all three podium positions. Among the crews, the pairing of Ontario driver Leo Urlichich and his new co-driver, Frenchman Enzo Mahinc, dominated the rally, earning Urlichich his second career victory in the Eastern Canadian Rally Championship (first one was already Perce-Neige, in 2017).

Held under beautiful, fully summery weather and cheered on by thousands of spectators in the special stages, the Rallye International Baie-des-Chaleurs in Gaspesia, Quebec, hosted the third round of the 2025 Eastern Canadian Rally Championship (ECRC) this weekend. Using only Saturday’s route, the ECRC witnessed a historic first as Quebec driver Mikael Arsenault and his French co-driver Layla Zigby claimed overall victory in their Peugeot 208 Rally4. After winning the two-wheel drive standings in the season opener at Rallye Perce-Neige, the duo has now become the first team to win an overall ECRC event with a two-wheel drive car, on a rally contested entirely on gravel and dirt roads.

Originally scheduled for April 5 but postponed due to weather issues, the Rally of the Voyageurs took place this Saturday in the Catchacoma region of Ontario. It served as the second round of the 2025 Eastern Canadian Rally Championship (ECRC), a series celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and, for the first time ever, welcoming the Voyageurs rally; a revived event that was once among the most hotly contested rallies in Eastern Ontario.

Always a spectacular event for the throngs of fans along the course (despite the frigid temperatures), who admire the rally cars tackle the ice and snow at high speed.

This weekend, as part of Ontario’s traditional Tall Pines Rally, the 2024 season of the Eastern Canadian Rally Championship (ECRC) concluded. Contested on completely dry gravel roads, which have often been covered in tricky snow and ice in past years, the event was dominated by Ontarian Jonathan Drake and his co-driver Ian Lantz, in a Subaru WRX STI. In 2-wheel drive, Quebecker Nicolas Laverdière, co-driven by Frenchman Nicolas Fouteret in a Ford Fiesta, earned his third consecutive victory, clinching the 2WD championship title. Vincent Lalande, the young prodigy of 16 years of age who was absent from competition at this final round, was crowned champion in the season’s overall standings.
