PRESS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION

Eight events will compose the next season of the Canadian Rally Championship

The Rallye de Charlevoix officially confirmed in the 2019 calendar

Turner Valley (AB) / La Malbaie (QC), December 14, 2018.- The Canadian Association of Rallysport (CARS), organizer of the Canadian Rally Championship, and Rallye de Charlevoix, are pleased to announce today the official presence of the event in the final calendar of the 2019 championship.

The Rallye de Charlevoix had been provisionally included in the 2019 schedule since last October, subject to the successful observation following the 2018 event which marked the final round of the Quebec Rally Championship (RSQ Series) and various points of collaboration regarding CARS regulations.

These points that will upgrade the event and meet the standards of a National organization for the Canadian series will make the Rallye de Charlevoix one of the most interesting events in the country, both for spectators and for the competitors who will take part in the 2019 edition, on October 18th and 19th.

“Rallye de Charlevoix will be an excellent addition to the Canadian Rally Championship” said John Hall, President of the Canadian Association of Rallysport. “The event roads have a long rally history and will provide some new and exciting challenges for competitors. Rallye de Charlevoix has everything needed for success, a solid organizing team, outstanding support from the local communities, excellent facilities and a large enthusiastic spectator following. We are really excited to be including Rallye de Charlevoix on the CRC calendar.”

For event coordinator Samuel Tremblay, the return of the Rallye de Charlevoix to the Canadian Rally Championship calendar is a major step in the development of the event: “a lot of work has been done since the revival of the Rallye de Charlevoix by the team led by Émilie Fortin in 2009. The best reward for all members of our organization, our volunteers and the Charlevoix people, is to officially announce today our presence in the 2019 Canadian Rally Championship and the North American Rally Cup Series”.

Event promoter Richard Berthiaume adds: “The work for the 2019 edition began immediately after the end of the 2018 event and I’m very happy to see everyone involved. We have a strong team organization. We are also working closely with our commercial partners to further develop the event and our cooperation with the series. Good news is coming”.

The Canadian Rally Championship, presented by Subaru and organized by CARS, is the series with the longest history in the Canadian motorsports. For more than 60 years, the best drivers, co-drivers and teams have competed in performance rallies across the country. The 2019 season will feature eight events in three provinces (four in Quebec, three in British Columbia and one in Ontario).

The 2019 edition of the Rallye de Charlevoix will feature the North American Rally Cup, the Canadian Rally Championship presented by Subaru, the Eastern Canadian Rally Championship and the Quebec Rally Championship presented by Freedom Rally Shop. The event will begin on Thursday, October 17th with the reconnaissance of the course by the competitors. The competition, which will include a majority of stages already contested at the 2018 edition but also new ones, will take place Friday 18th and Saturday 19th October.
